Abstract: The aim of present work is to formulate and evaluate efavirenz tablets. Efavirenz tablets were prepared by using Moisture Activated Dry Granulation. Efavirenz is a nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) used to treat HIV-1 infection and AIDS. As with other anti-retroviral drugs, HIV rapidly develops resistance if efavirenz is used alone. So recommended therapy consists of combinations of three or more anti-retroviral. Objective is to monitor the manufacturing process of efavirenz tablets to facilitate the formulation, evaluation, optimization and confirmation of the critical product / process parameter identified during the developmental stage of the formulation so that the final product at pilot scale / test batch will produce consistent results.
